Soteria Capabilities
Soteria allows researchers to efficiently manage, analyze and collaborate with Personally Identifiable Information (PII), Protected Health Information (PHI), and other data sets that require adherence to higher levels of compliance as mandated by the data providers. Soteria platform is comprised of multiple well known cutting-edge tools, collectively they ensure that protected data remains secure through the lifecycle of interdisciplinary research projects. All tools available through Soteria can be accessed using a web browser. The built-in research tools—some of which are developed at UArizona and are exclusively offered only to UArizona researchers and UArizona based projects—are what make the platform uniquely customized for the research needs of the campus community.
All resources and tools provided as part of Soteria are protected from the public internet and can only be accessed through a dedicated VPN connection. This allows researchers to work from anywhere using their own devices once they are granted access to Soteria.
External Data Transfer
Securely sending or receiving PII/PHI data, especially large volumes of data, is challenging. Soteria allows UArizona researchers to exchange data and projects with external organizations. It allows designated individuals to authenticate with their institutional credentials before initiating the data transfer.
Soteria HPC
This tool brings all the power of existing UArizona high-performance computing (HPC) environments into Soteria’s securely compliant data enclave. Soteria HPC provides the ability to process, store and analyze massive amounts of data at high speeds, with additional features restricting access.
Posit Connect Health
This industry leading web-based platform managed by the UArizona Data Science Institute allows collaborators to securely share PII/PHI data products such as static or dynamic reports and dashboards developed in R and Python. The tool also enables web applications and visualizations using Shiny.
CyVerse Health
This popular web workbench attracts data science teams who seek to securely collaborate and customize reproductible workflows and data. The service, managed by UArizona CyVerse, enables users to share their customizations of such tools as Jupyter and RStudio with specific team members.
Secure. Share. Soteria.
If your research involves PII or PHI, Soteria is for you. Get started by filling out an application with your IRB status. If you’re still in the IRB process, we can help you demonstrate to the board how you’ll safeguard data with Soteria.
